Are gyms for the fit?

This is a very politically incorrect post and will probably stir many, if not ipset most.

This morning I went to the gym. I’m not fat, a little over average, otherwise known as chubby. Society likes the fit, the lean and the muscley, especially where I live.

A couple of girls were on the treadmill beside me. They were not in the chubby category, infact I’d put them in the fat to obese category.

My initial thought was “you won’t last”. But then I thought, how many people think that? And do they think that?

I know when I was much heavier I hated gyms because I didn’t feel like I fitted in, and mainly because most the people there were lean and beautiful.

But today I thought, this is wrong. We should make those who are not fit and encourage them to keep going.

Maybe gyms should be full of [get ready for stark political incorrectness] fat people. Maybe we should be more accepting of those who don’t meet societies “standards” and welcome them, neigh make them exclusively the target of places that are designed to transform them.

Food for thought?

Of course someone will take even more offence for this post and suggest it’s ok to be fat. Read the fine print, this page is about political incorrectness. Sod off.
